Local file size versus Server download size

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why there's such a large size difference
in the following:

1. An EPM schedule is saved locally and the file size is obtained through
its properties (I include all the Global items with it when I save)
2. The same EPM schedule is opened through server and the downloaded data
(observed through Task Manager), it's almost three times the size.

Are there that many extra Enterprise/PWA tables that the server version
needs to download? This really has me curious as to what/how much extra
information it's pulling down from the server. We are running PS 2003.

To some extent, comparing the physical file size to data download is an
apples to oranges comparison. Yes, there is a lot more data stored in the
database for a project in Project Server than there is in an MPP file.
