Local printer not found OS 9/OS X

Does anyone know of how to get a local printer to show up
in the 'chooser' under 'Classic' mode when using MAC OS X?
Net printers show up fine, but local printers only show up
in OS X.
Any help on how to correct this problem would be greatly
appreciated...
