local resources

I noticed in Project Pro 2007 there is no longer a Workgroup to assign the
resource to. In Project Pro 2003 I assign local resources to Workgroup = none
to avoid spooler errors....now there's no spooler in 2007

So now in Project Pro & Server 2007 how do local resources work? If I
assign work to a local resource and publish the mpp to the server what
happens? Are local resources automatically added to the ERP? Does work
assigned to the local resource make it to the cubes?

If you use local resources and attempt to publish it to the server, it
will try to add these resources to the global resource pool. You will
be prompted about adding them, or replacing ones with the same names.

You can add local resources to a project without doing anything special
other than typing the name and info about the resource. The assignments for
local resources do not publish, so there is no problem and you should not
see errors of any type. The local resource's Work shows up in the Resource
Status dimension in the OLAP cube as a total for all local resources. Hope
this helps.

What in the world are you talking about? The system does NOT try to add the
local resources to the Enterprise Resource Pool. I cannot confirm what you
are saying. Please explain.

You are completely right Dale. My fault for not checking before I
spoke. I was thinking of how it acted in Project Server 2003. Sorry
for the incorrect information.

No apology necessary. I know you are trying to help people, and I
thoroughly appreciate the answers you have given to others. Occasionally we
all make a mistake...
