Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Dear all,

Just bought my first Imac a few days ago and I am thrilled!!!!!
I am new to working with OSX and have therefor no experience, I am sorry.

While I was shifting around with some folders yesterday evening, this morning I came to the conclusion that I had shifted folders that weren't supposed to be shifted: entourage has lost all my e-mail, adresses etc.
Everythings works perfectly, but without my data.

Can somebody please me help me find back the folder(s) entourage needs and advise me where to place them?
Thank you very much in advance.

greetings from the Netherlands!

Yeah, you're not the first one making that mistake.
Can somebody
please me help me find back the folder(s) entourage needs and advise me
where to place them?

The Microsoft User Data and all its content HAS to be in ~/Documents.
Just move it back there and everything should come back the way it was,

Corentin,

Many thanks for your answer but this did not work.
I had tried to do exactly what you said before I joined this nice forum.

Meanwhile I have learned that a backup is made of all the entourage files and that those files have *.rge as extention name.
So I had my mac search for those files, and YES, I now know where they are located:
mydisc/library/caches/metadata/microsoft/entourage/2008/main identity/ and than the subfolders:
Attachments
Contacts
Events
Messages
Notes
spindex.1 (what is this for?)
Tasks

To be complete I will also name you the contents of my documents folder:

Documents/MUD/ and then the subfolders:
Entourage Script Menu Items
Entourage Sound Sets
Excel Script Menu Items
Microsoft Messenger Data
Office 2008 AutoRecovery
Office 2008 Identities
Saved files
PowerPoint Script Menu Items
Word Script Menu Items

I would appreciate your further help....I am not sure what to do next.
If more info is needed please let me know.

Many thanks!

Corentin,
Many thanks for your answer but this did not work.

Well that's really bad then.
Is the folder back at it's regular location?? Did you also move some of
the folders that it contained?
You really need to make sure that the structure of this folder is
preserved.

mydisc/library/caches/metadata/microsoft/entourage/2008/main identity/ and
than the subfolders:

Well these are *not* backup files. They are simple text files created
for Spotlight (to allow individual messages, contacts, etc to be indexed
for searches).

Just don't touch them.
To be complete I will also name you the contents of my documents folder:
Documents/MUD/ and then the subfolders:

Is the folder actually called MUD or Microsoft User Data?
Office is fairly inflexible with its data. You can't rename the
folders., you can't move it, etc.
Entourage Script Menu Items
Entourage Sound Sets
Excel Script Menu Items
Microsoft Messenger Data
Office 2008 AutoRecovery
Office 2008 Identities

That's the one that contains all the data for your Entoruage database.

Make sure you haven't moved or renamed anything,

Corentin
