Location of Office Setup Log(s) and SP1 Install Problem

Chad Harris

I'm using Office 2007 on Vista RTM. I tried to install Office 2007 SP1 from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...94-992C-4165-A997-25DA01F388F5&displaylang=en

The download size is 213 MB> I had 1 GB free space on the drive. I did not
install anything else at the time. The install aborted so I ***need and
would appreciate the location of the Office 2007 setup log (s) since I got
no error message at all on the screen (not very helpful from the Office
team). I had the Office Source Engine service started.

When I finished the aborted SP1 installation, I checked diskmgmt.msc and was
surprised to find out even though I had gotten nothing installed, now I had
approximately 500 GB left! What took up the space, and how can I find it>

Can someone point me to where the Office 2007 setup log is?

TIA,

CH

Hi Chad,

The Office update setup logs should be accessible using the Run command and entering %temp%

In general, the freespace requirement to run the update is 1.75gb on the Windows/System drive partition for Vista when you manually
downloaded the SP1 update to the MS Office Suite, or about 6x the size of the download for related MS Office 2007 product Sp1
(Service Pack 1) updates. A lot of the space is restored after a successful update, but not all.
