Lock a Doc

Is there anyway I can prevent a Word Document (*.doc) from being edited.
Similar to a *.pdf file I want a formatted document that cannot be changed
in anyway by the user.

No there isn't. You can add a password or make the file read-only, but
neither of these methods provides any security. That's one of the reasons
people use PDFs (although that's hardly bulletproof, either).
