Lock all but inout cells

P

Paula

I know this must sound so newbie, but I am trying to lock down all of a
worksheet EXCEPT the cells used for user data entry. I want to prevent
users from trashing the worksheet while still allowing full user access
to the data entry cells. It would also be nice to have a "tab" order in
place, too...just to keep the folks from getting lost!

Thanks much,

Paula

If you unlock the cells you want access to > lock the cells you don't and
protect the sheet the tab key will only take you to the unlocked cells.

All cells are "Locked" by default when you protect the worksheet.

Select the cells you want unlocked then Format>Protection. Clear the "locked"
button.

Now Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet.

If the input cells are in a left to right, top to bottom order you can TAB
through them in that order.

Note: if using XL 2002 you have a host of user options when protecting a
sheet.
