Lock Anchor?

Hi all,

I have equations as embedded objects in my document. I want to format
them so that

1) they are 1" to the right of the margin,
2) they are 0.2" below the top line of text and 0.3" above the following
line of text
3) identify the equation with text (e.g. "[Eq. 3.1]") on the same line
as the equation but right-justified.

I have figured out how to do #1. As for the rest, either the equation
itself or the "[Eq...]" text get out of sync when I add or delete text
in the preceding paragraph. I've tried to set "Move Object With
Text"...sometimes that works, sometimes not.

I think it's a matter of how I've set my relative positions. My
settings are:
Format -> Object -> Layout -> Advanced:
Horizontal position: 1" Right of Margin
Vertical Absolute Position: 0.2" below paragraph
Lock Anchor - no
Move Object with Text - yes
Allow Overlap - yes
Picture Place Holder - no

Any ideas? BTW, what is "Lock Anchor"?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi,

Take a look at this reply to a question I asked a while back (and
possibly the whole thread -- it's about pictures but I think all
objects work the same):

If you possibly, possibly can, convert them to in-line objects (you'll
find how in that thread). I didn't want to believe John McGhie when
he first said it, but my subsequent experiences with floating graphics
confirm everything he says and more about them being an absolute
nightmare. In-line is less flexible but it works!! Persevering with
floating will drive you crazy!

Good luck!
Andy
