Lock certain parts of a document

I am using MS WORD2000. I am trying to create a 3-page
word template that have most of the fixed text (It won't
change). In some places between this fixed text is
variable information based upon different users input
through a user-form. When a new document is created based
upon this template then everything should be locked
(protected) except some variable info.

Can anybody help, how can I do that. I will greatly
appreciate it.

Hi Ravi

Try Tools/Protect Document and then select the "Forms" option button. This
will leave the Form Fields available for data entry. The boilerplate text
will be locked down.
