Lock up when inserting file into any Office app.

For an unknown reason, I can no longer insert any file in
any Office program without it locking up (No Response).
Once I indicate that I want to insert a file, the default
list of files appears, but if I try to change to another
file via the Look In drop down menu, the program
immediately locks up. Even after uninstalling, re-
installing the program and incorporating all of the
updates, the result is the same. This relates to any
program in the Windows Office XP Professional program.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Randy,

Are you using a Norton Security/Antivirus Product? If so see
if disabling the 'Office Plugin' then using start search to
delete files found with ~$*.*;*.tmp
before restarting Word helps.
