Locked Double Space

Hello, I am having frustrating problem with Word that I was hoping
someone can help me with. I have a document where I have a header
(same size font) and I want the paragraph below to start right below
the header. (single space). Unfortunately, it will only allow me to do
a double space. On other parts of the document I do have single
spaces between headers and paragraphs, it is just on a certain section
it will not allow me to. When I tried to switch my line spacing to
single, it was already on single so I know it is not that. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

First of all let's get the terminology on track - I believe you're talking
about *headings*, not *headers* - they're two separate & distinct parts of a
document:)

Click in the problem heading then go to Format>Paragraph & see if there is a
value in the Space After box. If so set it to zero.

If that isn't it, click in the para below the space, go into the same dialog
& see if there is a value other than zero in the Space Before box.

Another approach is if the headings or paragraphs are formatted using
Styles... The Space Before/After may be set as a part of the style in which
case the style can be modified. However, that could possibly cause unwanted
changes elsewhere in the doc.

There really isn't enough info in your post to be sure to tell you how to
proceed, nor do you mention what version of Word you're using.

The problem was the "Space After" was set to 14. I changed that to 0.
Good to know for next time! Thank You!
