Locked Field Codes

Hello,

Could it be that, in Word 2003, all field codes are locked by default? If
so, is there a way to change this for ever?

In Word 2003 field codes are not all locked by default. I don't know of
_any_ that are.

What, exactly, is happening? How are you inserting the field codes? Can you
edit your document, generally?

Not sure what you mean, but if you cannot edit Word fields directly, it is
often an indication that you are in overwrite mode. Does pressing the INS
key make it work?
