Hi I wonder if anyone has any ideas. Quite often after you carry out an
advanced filter on a worksheet the whole workbook will be locked. It will
refuse to open other than in read only. The message displyed is
"workbook.xls is locked for editing by usersname"
"Click 'Notify' to open a read-only copy of the document and recieve
notification when the document is no longer in use"
It goes without saying that the workbook is not open or being used, nothing
shown as running by the 'Task Manager' I may be wrong but it always seems
to happen following an 'advanced filter' The only way I've found to get
around it is sometimes re-booting the machine works or the alternative is
to move machines.
Has anyone out there got any ideas how to prevent it and how to unlock it
without moving machines. It occurs most often during exams which usually
renders the exam void due to time restraints.
Thanks Tom
