Locked for editing by myself

I have one excel file that continually turns off automatic save. Now, it
tells me that I cannot open the file because it is locked for editing (by me)
I don't have the file open, I have rebooted my computer twice. I will save
the file under another name temporarily. What can I do to fix this problem?
