Locked Out of Admin Page Because of Security Blunder

J

Jim

Background: I am the sole Administrator of our PS2003 implementation, I am
also a member of the Project Managers, Porfolio Managers, and Executives
groups.

Problem: In a moment of unclarity while adjusting security settings, I set
several "Deny" checkboxes thinking I could block other PMs from performing
certain tasks while enabling me to perform those tasks given my "Allow"
rights specified via the other groups. Now, I am locked out of being able to
access the Admin page in Project Web Access.

Question: How can I go about modifying the data in the PS2003 database
security tables to re-open my access to the Admin page? Or, is there a more
simplistic method for regaining the access I need? I have tried modifying
WESC_DENY and WESC_ALLOW flags in the MSP_WEB_SECURITY_ORG_PERMISSIONS table,
but doing so had no impact; so, I rolled back those changes.

Hi Jim,

The easiest way in this situation is to log in using the custom
authentication (Not AD) as Administrator which is the default login when you
install PS2003.

Login:Administrator
Password:

If you have forgotten the pasword then the easiest way is go in the DB for
Users and in the password field agains Administrator clear the entry.
This will now set the Administrator password to blank.
Now you can login as Administrator with blank password and rpllback the
changes made.
