Locked project

Word 2002, Win XP, SP-2
When I start Word and try to use it, the Project is Locked dialog box opens
with the message "Project is Unviewable". After I hit enter, the box closes
and I can use Word.

I recently created some macros in Excel 2002. I wonder if this is somehow
related to the problem.

It could be you have an add-in running a macro when Word starts. Go to
Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash. This will load Word using the
application defaults and prevent add-ins from loading.

If the error doesn't occur then restart Word without the /a switch.
Then to determine if you are using any global templates go to
Tools/Templates and Add-Ins and see if there are any global templates
or add-ins listed. If so they are located in one of your Startup
folders. The location of the Word\Startup folder can be found under
Tools/Options/File Locations and the Office\Startup folder can be
found in the Office installation path. (You can also use Windows
Search to locate the templates.)

Take a look in each folder and if you find more than one file move
them one at a time and try duplicating the error after each file is
moved out of the folder until you determine which one is causing the
problem.

btw, the macros you created in Excel would not cause this issue.
