Locking /deactiviating particular outline codes values ???

Hi Listers

I am using project Server 2003.

We have a requirement where we need to "de-activate" few Task outline
codes.

This means that the historical tasks should still have that outline
code value ,
but all new tasks should not be able to select the "de-activated"
outline code.

So far as I have seen in Project I don't think this could be done.

Did anybody else face this issue ? How did you resolve this.

Only way to do this which I can think of is to write - Deleted after
the outline code
value and hope that people don't choose that value.

Thanks a lot in advance ...

You can't do what your requirement states. A custom field or outline code
is either active for all projects, all tasks, and all resources, or it does
not exist at all. Therefore, I would suggest you make this a training and
performance issue with your project managers. Hope this helps.
