Locking enterprise fields

Dear All,

I want to create an enterprise field that contains "Baseline Work", which I
will then display instead of the actual column Baseline Work. The reason for
this is that I have had one or two issues with people trying to change data
in baseline work, and messing things up. I accept this is a training issue,
but I thought this could be an easy work-around. In order for it work,
however, I need to be able to lock that column so that it cannot be edited.
Is there a way of doing this?

Many thanks,

John

Hi John,
If you are using Project Server 2003, in the Server Configuration page of
PWA, you can deny saving baselines on the Global permissions for Project
users.
Hope this helps,

Hi Gerard,

Thanks for replying. I do not want to deny PMs the possibility of saving a
baseline, quite the contrary. However, I do want to stop them editing the
information in MSP when there is a column showing Baseline Work. Hence my
desire to swap a column containing "Baseline Work" with an Enterprise field
for which the formula is "Baseline Work", but then I hoped that there is an
option which will prohibit editing of that field.

I hope this makes more sense.

Cheers,

John

John:

The good news is that 2007 supports field-level security. The bad news is
that 2003 does not. If you copy this information into a field that you don't
display anywhere, perhaps your users will leave it alone?

Thank you Gary, yet again, for your expert advice. We shall look forward to
2007 then =)
