locking information file problems

Is the .ldb (locking information system) for Access mdb databases instabile,
or am I doing something wrong?

When I check the content of the ldb file for almost any database in our
network, I find users still registered after leaving the database. I thought
this was just occational incidents, but it happens every time in some
databases and in general it occurs in most of the access databases
throughout our network. We're currently using Access 2000.

Hope someone can enlighten me on this issue or direct me to a more correct
newsgroup.

This is normal behavior for an ldb file.
Although your users are still listed after leaving the database, they are
marked as having left.
When the last user leaves, the ldb file is deleted.
