Locking objects in templates

I am making a pdf newsletter. While the user I am making it for needs
to be able to input text, I need to lock the logo and and company
informational in the template so it doesn't get changed. Is this
possible (I am using Mac Office 2004)?

Depends....

If you can put a section break between the logo etc, and the user's entry
points, you can use Tools | Protect Document to just protect one section.

However, it may also be possible to anchor the logo, etc in the
header/footer, and then it will be more difficult to accidentally change
them, but not locked in any way.

I'm a little confused here but let's see what we can do.

First of all, if it's a PDF, it can't be edited. That's the whole point of
PDFs.

However you *can* lock the logo and company information in a Word template
or document, if that's what you mean. Insert a continuous section break
after the logo/info.

Go to Tools> Protect Document> Forms> Sections. Check the section(s) you
want protected which in this case is probably section 1.

One problem, though. Before you "Save as PDF" in Word's Print Dialog, you
*may* have to get rid of the section break. Word has a bad habit of
sometimes splitting a document into two parts when there's a section break
(especially if there are also different margins or page orientation). See
the other current thread on this newsgroup called "Saving multi page doc as
pdf".
