Locking Templates and Adding pages

EVS

I created a template with a header and footer. It can be moved in the document and I would like to lock it. I want the text box to be able to be used only.
When I get to the end of copy in the text box on the first page of the document, it does not overflow to the next page and, in fact, I cannot create a second page.
What can I do to:
1) Lock the template
2) Allow another page with the template and the type to reflow into the continuing pages.
Thank,
EVS

By definition, text boxes cannot be more than a page. You'd need to
create a second text box to link it to.

Why are you using a text box at all? If you think you need a text box to
prevent people typing and pushing your footer into the wrong place, then
your doc is not set up properly.

And be sure to state version of Word and OS when you post back.

I am using Word. I believe that it is set up improperly. This is the first time I am trying to do this. Could you please give me steps to follow? What format does it have to be to import the artwork? I need to have various pages because it is a report that will be continuous but it must be on the letterhead.
Thanks,

Okay, it sounded like letterhead. I think you typed the header and
footer directly into the body of the document, rather than using Word's
header and footer feature? If that's correct, start with this tutorial
on Word's header and footer feature, which will automatically prevent
what people type from interfering with your header and footer.

There is also a good tutorial on Letterhead here, which will walk you
through setting it up:
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/Letterhead.htm

The tutorials are written for WinWord, but the general principles are
the same. Some menu commands may differ--I think the only one you will
run into in this context is that if the tutorial says go to File | Page
Setup to change Margins or Layout, use the Format | Document command
instead.

Great information, but now I have another problem. When I put the
graphic (jpeg) in the header and header box, I cannot move it without
resizing the object by stretching it taller or wider. Also how will I
get the letterhead to appear on every page without using page break to add page after page. Also how do I lock text boxes on the continuous pages?
Thanks,

Sorry, EVS, I was out of town.

By definition, headers should appear on every page. So you put the
letterhead in the header. If you use a different letterhead on the first
page and on the second page, I believe the Letterhead tutorial explains
how to do that without requiring page breaks in the template--check
again, but post back if you can't find it.

You should not need to use text boxes at all. What are you using them for?

I'm not sure I understand your issue with the graphic. Possibly, to be
able to move it, you need to set the Layout on the picture format to
anything *except* in line with text.
