Locking the position of graphics on Powerpoint Slides

I'm using Office 2008 (MAC), client using Office 2003 (PC).

The project we're working on, has a lot of different designs on the slides - so instead of setting up Master pages, which haven't be converting properly for us - he wants us to LOCK the position of the background graphics and logos on the slides (similar to how you can lock graphics in InDesign and Quark), and just be able to edit the text... without using Master pages?

Confusing, I know, but hopefully doable. Thanks for the help.

Hi Laura -

If the content you want to use can be saved as a single image file you can
Control/Right+Click a slide & select Format Background - Picture, then click
the Choose a Picture button.

Thanks for the quick response.

I ended up taking all of the images I need in the background and creating a new single image from them (logo on top of color bars and photos). Once I had done that for each page, I made them into PNG files.

Then did FORMAT > Slide Background... and Choose a Picture to get the images in the background.

It looks pretty good - and when I went back to the slide, only the text boxes were editable - fingers crossed the client likes it too.
