Locking tight wrapped pictures in a Word document

Hello,

I have a big problem. I have an Word document with almost 300 pictures in
and at the beginning I had wrapped them tight to the text.

Now, I am rearranging the entire text (1.100 pages) and the images are
"flying" all over. How can I lock them so that they stay in the same place no
matter what happens with the text?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Short answer - You can't.

Word is not a page layout program and internally has no concept of what a
physical page is. Word file structure is a stream of text from beginning to
end with specifications that determine how that text is constrained when
printed. All objects are anchored to the text in one of two ways:

1- InLine with Text: as though it were actually a character inserted into
the text, or

2- As a floating object (having any sort of Text Wrapping applied, i.e
*other* than inline), in which case it is anchored to a paragraph. As goes
the paragraph, so goes the object.

The only thing I can suggest that may help a little is to select only the
text to be moved without selecting the paragraph mark (¶) at the end of that
paragraph. If there are a series of paras to be move at once & an object is
anchored to one of them, drag the object anchor to another para before
selecting & moving the other content.

I don't envy your situation, but unfortunately this is not the type of
document Word was designed to produce and revising it after-the-fact can be
even more precarious. Page layout (desktop publishing) programs are far
better suited to the task.

Others may offer some additional suggestions, but even so I sincerely hope
you have at least one backup copy of the file.
