locking up

I've been using Word 2007 for several week with no problems. All of a sudden
when I open it. It lock up my entire system as soon as I try to type the
first stroke.
How do I fix it? Help Please!

Are you able to use Word if you start it in Safe Mode? Hold the CTRL key
while starting Word and continue holding it until you are prompted to start
in Safe Mode. If the issue doesn't occur, restart Word (don't use Safe Mode
this time) and take a look at the Active Application Add-ins which you can
find by clicking the Office Button, Word Options, and then clicking Add-ins
on the left. If you find more than one, try disabling the add-ins one at
time to see if you can find add-in causing the issue.

wound up @ Microsoft dig center for word. Whatever the prog. did it corected the problem.
