Lockup of Word Applica.stions

I have been using Word 2000 since it came out with my
computer. Today, 7/2, I was trying to put some files into
a Word format document. After I clicked on the Word icon
the loga page came up and the computer locked up. Earlier
I was receiving a message that I didn't have enough hard
drive for Word, not true over 13GB left. Ias also
receiving messages of an illegal operation. After all
these reports I erased the Word program from Works 2000
and then downloaded Word from the original disc. Same
lockup. I did the maintenance on the hard drive and there
are no problems but still it locks up. Does any have a
solution. Thanks!
