Log on problem

James Kirwan

Hi All,

I am able to log on to PWA when choose "Log on using a different Windows
account" but not "Log on using your MS Windows user account". I get the
error "You have entered an incorrect user name/password combination. (5002)".

If I use Project Pro (everything SP2 or 2a) I get the following error:
You are attempting to log on using a Windows user account, but you do not
have a Windows user account on this server. You need to change the account in
your profile or contact your server administrator to set up your Windows user
account on this server. (5002)

I have checked this in Project Server, the account is there, has admin
permissions all the way down.

Can someone please help me?
Many thanks,
James.

James:

Assuming that you're logging onto your workstation using your Windows
credentials, the system should automatically pass these to Project Server.
If that's not happening, the first place to look is at the custom level
security in the Browser and make sure that in the trusted sites zone, where
your Project Server URL should be included, check that Automatic logon with
current username and password is selected under the User Authentication
section. If it is correctly selected, you might need to verify that you're
actually logging on to the domain and not using cached credentials locally.
Let us know if this isn't the issue.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked all that, and all checks out as you specify. I was working
from home yesterday, ie VPN in to the network. I thought that might be an
issue so I'm trying from the office today and I'm still getting the same
problem. I also disabled my wireless network card, inserted a CAT 5 cable,
rebooted by machine and logged on again. Still no joy.

I'm still able to log on to the web with the "Log on using a different
Microsoft Windows user account".

I’d appreciate any more thoughts you might have.
James.

I am having a similar problem. Up until yesterday, access via PWA and
Project has been no problem. Last night, I performed a complete reinstall of
my O.S. and software. While doing so, I added WinXP SP2. (I was only
running SP1 before) I can now no longer get access via PWA or Project from
this machine. I can access PWA from other computer that are running WinXP
SP1.

The server is set up as a trusted site. Any thoughts would be apprecieated.

Hi

We have been having similar problems after some users (not all) have changed
their domain password. It happens when "remember password" option is selected
in Internet Explorer.

We did the 2 things Gary suggested earlier (trusted zones, user
authentication) plus

- Clear IE cache, cookies under the Tools, General etc.
- Clear all saved passwords Tools, Content, Autocomplete
- Access Project Server using IE, and type in the new password when prompted.

This has generally worked but not always!

Caroline
