Log-on prompt accessing WSS

W

Wendy

Hello,

I've checked previous posts and nothing fully addressed my issue. There
are certain users who use Windows authentication to get onto PWA.
However, they are being prompted with a Windows log-on prompt when
accessing WSS pages. These users have their Trusted Sites custom level
settings to Use current username and password. There are other users
set up the same way who are not having this issue.

Any suggestions regarding why this issue is occuring?

Thanks!
Wendy

Wendy:

By default, people, other than Administrators, can't simply go browsing
through the project sites unless they're a member of the team and have at
least one published assignment in a project. Does that help explain the
behavior you're seeing?

Thanks everyone...

We do not have AD set-up currently on the first suggestion.

Gary, the section I'm talking about is in the Public Documents section.
Within this folder, I created a new folder--this is what people are not
able to access. Is there something I can change for this folder? My
assumption would be that for this folder everyone can access by default
(if they are set up to access WSS at all, which they are).

To follow up on your other point about who can access what for
projects. I need to manually create WSS sites for certain projects. In
these cases, will the PM for that project have access to that workspace
or do I need to make a change to a setting?

Thank you!!!

Wendy:

If you created a **folder** then users should be able to get to it. HOWEVER,
if you create a sub-site, (It sounds as though this is what you may have
done), then the users won't be able to get to it unless you manage the
permissions manually.

On another note, you may want to obscure your email address when posting
here (like I have) in order to keep the robots from harvesting your address
for the spammers.
