Hiya,
We had a network crash yesterday and a few peeps had a db open. These people
aren't in, and the db has been locked (with ldb file) since (even though all
PCs are shut down).
I can open the db still, but it won't let me change/add a thing - no code,
no nothing! It always says I can't do diddly squat coz I don't have exclusive
access.
I looked at the options and it let me change the default shared/exclusive
options, but neither gave me any luck.
I made a copy of the db ok, but when I try and delete the locked db (first
delete the ldb file, and then the mdb), it seems to work - but then I refresh
and both files return!
IT are useless monkeys who don't know how to help (and I normally am really
impressed by IT department talent! Not in this company... they actually are
useless). So what I would like to try and do is use a second database to jump
into the locked db and boot everyone out. How do I do this from an external
database?
My previous work has used form timers to boot everyone out - I think all
users would have had the same form open when the network crashed - but can I
change the module of a form open by multiple users? I doubt it - any other
methods people can advise???
Thanks, sorry for the long description - always think more information leads
to fewer threads (unfortunately that's probably because most people don't
have time to read this far down - so thank you for getting here!!).
Thanks for any advice!
