Logging users

I have a password protected site, using an Access and ASP as shown in this
tutorial:

I would like to automitically log when a user signs in, presumably using a
seperate Access database. Can anyone point to to a simple way of
accomplishing this?

When you open the DB to check credentials write a date/time if it validates
