Logon Error and causing problems with Illustrator CS3

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I keep getting this error:

Mail could not be received at this time.
The server for Account (my account name) returned the error Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Your user name/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

When I click yes, it tries to get the mail and the same things starts all over again.

In the past my IS guy made new user account, checked all the settings were correct and it started working again after I rebooted my system. That hasn't worked this time. What else can we try?

Also, often when Entourage is open and I am working in Illustrator CS3, certain functions in Illustrator stop working (trying to drag/copy and drag/restrain specifically). Any ideas on how to make this stop other than turning Entourage on and off all day long?

You've left out a crucial bit of information. What kind of account are
you using (POP/IMAP/Exchange)? Since you mention your "IS guy" then I'm
going to assume you have an Exchange account.

Have your IS guy verify he has the hotfix mentioned in this blog post
installed:

"Exchange Server hotfix resolves Entourage login problems"

If you ever receive spam and some of it contains Japanese characters in
the subject line then this is most likely the problem.

I've heard no one else report this problem. Can you test this in another
Mac OS X user account and see if it continues there? If not then I'd
suspect you have some damaged preferences within your home folder.
