Logon password HELP!

S

Sass

I rarely use Access, however, I was trying to put a
password on an Access document. All went well. Now when I
try to open any Access document or even create a new one,
I am asked for a Logon name and password. Nothing will
work. I've tried the logon/password for the document I
worked on ... it doesn't work. I've tried every logon name
and password I have and none will work. What can I do to
get rid of this Logon and Password. Help! Thanks.

You refer to a password on the mdb, but then refer to logon/password. There
are two different security options in Access. From what you describe, I'll
assume you mean username/password, and not the simple database password.

Also, from your description, I'll assume you modified the standard
system.mdw, and didn't create a new workgroup file.

Since you are getting a login prompt for every session of Access, you set a
password on the default Admin user.

Try this:

Open Access and type Admin for the username, and then the password you set
(it is case sensitive, so watch the capslock).

Once in, go to the Tools, Security, Accounts menu and change the password
back to blank. You'll no longer get a login prompt.

If you want to implement username/password security, then study the security
FAQ thoroughly. It isn't trivial.

If you want a simple password prompt for your database, you can use Tools,
Security, Database Password - that will apply to only that database.
However cracks for this password are freely available on the internet.
