Logon Permissions

I am using Windows 2003 set as a workstation. I have
created user accounts then added these accounts to
projects and imported the resources as enterprise
resources into project server.

My problem is that I cannot get any account other than the
administor to be able to login to PWA? I've tried both
Windows Authentication and Project Server Authentication.
Whats the deal?

If you imported resources into the Enterprise Resource Pool and did not
include Windows User Account information for these resources, then by
default, Project Server sets each of the user accounts for these resources
to use Project Server authentication. To log in as any of these resources,
you can simply enter the user name for the resource and leave the password
blank on the PWA login screen. Once you have logged in as the resource, you
will be prompted to change the password. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale,

I'll try this, when the accounts were created I was also
unable to log in with them even though as you say they
were created with Project Server accounts, I thought
Project Server would let me log in with at least its
validation.

And yes I will buy your book ;) I posted this hoping and
knowing you would have some insight.

So I have an account on the system Domain\Mark that is a
member of the users group.

I then add this person to Project Server as a user with
every permission set and after saving recieve the message
the account was created succesfully.

I log off and then at the log in screen enter Domain\Mark
and the password. I get the error:

You have entered an incorrect user name/password
combination. (5002)

I have also just tried Mark with no Domain name and get
the same error.

I can log on to the system using this account Domain\Mark.

Thoughts?

When you say that the user has an account in the form of Domain\Mark, you
are saying that his account is using Windows User Account authentication to
access Project Server. Because of this, you cannot log in as this user and
this is the source of your problem. Have you had the user in question try
to log into Project Server and see if it works? Let us know.

Yes, you are correct, it appears that it is a matter of
understanding the difference between Project Server
Authentication and Active Directory\Windows
Authentication. I think I have worked this out for the
most part, thank again.
