Logon problems

Why is access asking me for a logon name and password
when I start a new database? I am using the program on my
computer at home, no network. Since I don't know the
proper user name or password, it renders the program
useless to me. Is there any thing I can do?

It would seem that you have Joined an Access security workgroup, which
is stored in a .mdw file. Try opening Access (with no database at
all); select Tools... Security... Workgroup Administrator; and join
SYSTEM.MDW in your Windows/System or Windows/System32 directory (or
search your hard disk for SYSTEM.MDW and join it). This default
workgroup file contains a default user named Admin with no password;
unless a database has been secured (depriving poor lonesome Admin of
all privileges) this user/non-password is all you need.
