Long Delay Opening Files

We currently have a client who is experiencing long
delays opening files using Word 2002.

The client has a small peer to peer network with an XP
workstation running as a 'Server', along with 3 other XP
workstations and 2 98 workstations. All running Office
XP. The machines are using DHCP via an ADSL router.

The issue is that when they opening documents on the XP
machines there is a long delay of at least a minute or
more when opening documents. The 98 machines are fine,
it's just the XP machines.

I have tried a number of different things to resolve
including host and lmhost files, applying fix for article
818792. The issue in this article is exactly the same
problem the client is experiencing. The only problem is
that the solution provided in article 818792 does not
resolve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Under Tools, Options, File Locations tab, make sure that the paths to the
'server' are using UNC paths and not mapped drive letter.
