Long documents and power consumption

I have a toshiba notebook with a battery life of about 3 hours. When i work on long word documents of 70,80 pages it consumes tremendous power reducing my battery life to about 1 and a half hours - the battery life is longer for DVD movies. I know these are long files but the actual size is only about 1 mb. Is this normal? Anything to do?

It's probably due to the fact that the computer has to work more on the
longer document (opening, saving, etc.). The more of the cpu you use,
the shorter the battery life.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
