Long file name causing problems in Outlook 2003?

Hi,

One of our users is unable to open any attachments with long file name
(including spaces).

He can open files that fit 8.3 naming without problems.

The error is "Cannot create file".

I have made sure he has the appropriate permissions on the folder so I'm not
sure what is causing this. I found posting on Friday with some suggestions
but unfortunately I didn't bookmark it and now can't find it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nancy

The scenario you described is indeed when things will eventually go wrong.
Clearing the Temporary Internet Files folder isn't a fail proof solution.
The folder itself isn't visible through Explorer but you can see it when
doing directory views in the Command console. In practically all cases most
subfolders will remain including the Outlook folder and its contents. In
addition I created the tool for convenient access to it in case you need to
salvage something ;-)
