long string truncation on tab-del text file import

Hi,
Could anyone tell me if it's possible to avoid truncation
of long (>900 char) strings after opening tab-del text
file?

Currently, I have truncation which seems to depend on the
string, but is consistent only for each string, meaning
that truncation occurs to different length from string to
string.

I already heared about 256 char maximum in certain cases,
but for some reason I don't get truncation until 900 chars
instead.

did you select a cell that appears to be trunctated and look at it in the
formula bar - was all the text there?
