What would make Excel take an unusually long time to quit?

This has begun after I reinstalled the OS and after replaced logic board and
hard drive (thank you Apple Care).

OS 10.3.9 and Excel OSX

Thanks

Which version of XL (both XLv.X and XL2004 are OSX native)?

One thing that caused a long time to quit in XLv.X was the anti-piracy
scheme. That was fixed in SP-1, I believe. It was caused by a long
time-out value when checking for other instances of Office on the local
network (if any). Update if you haven't.

Excel X for Mac Service Release 1 is what it says in the about box.

And it isn't consistent. I was just wondering what to look for.

BTW, the autorecover save box is unchecked.

Thanks anyway

FWIW, the problem in XLv.X had nothing to do with AutoRecover, which
should never interfere with the process of shutting down.
