Look In drop down hangs....

I am running Excel 2002 with Windows XP. The problem is
that when in Excel, I click on the 'Open' icon and get
the 'Open' Dialog box, well when I click the 'Look in:'
drop down box it takes up to a minute to drop down my
folder tree. If I don't let it take it's time Excel will
resort to 'Not Responding' and then end. I do not have
any network drives connected to the machine. Any thoughts
or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
