Hello

I am using Excel 2000.

I have two sets of data (System Data and Input Data)
containing peoples names and the cost centres they are
responsible for. Several people have responsibilities for
the same cost centres. For each responsibility there is
an entry for the staff name and alongside the cost
centre. As a result each name is repeated a variable
number of times with a cost center alongside.

I am comparing the two lists and marking if the name on
the System Data is matched by an entry in the Input Data.
Where the names are matched I want to compare the Cost
Centre data on each set of data to find if they also
match. I have used a VLOOKUP to indicate which names
match but I do not know how to compare the cost centres
when there are variable numbers of lines for each entry.

Any guidance gladly received.

not really sure about your data layout. Could you post some example
rows of data (plain text) and describe based on this example your
expected result
