Looking Up Values - INDEX?

Hi There

I have a list of values like this:

Player Score
Player1 5
Player2 8
Player3 9Player19 4

I am trying to write a formula so that it would check in a
cell for a player then return the score of that player.
The score of the player will be changing constantly.

I'm sure you can do it with the INDEX function but I am
not having any luck.

Any Help would be much appreciated

if your list is in A1:B20 and the plaxer name to search for in D1 use
the following formula
=VLOOKUP(D1,$A$1:$B$20,2,0)
