Lookup columns using existing tables - Access 2002

I am using the lookup wizard to create a lookup column
using an existing table within my database however I get
an "automation error". I can get as far as choosing the
table and the fields then get "Automation error. The
specified procedure could not be found." I can create a
manual lookup table however this defeats the purpose.
I've tried detect & repair and reinstalling Access 2002.
This is a brand new database created in Access 2002. Any
suggestions? Thanks.

Yes; avoid the use of the misleading, misdesigned, and all but useless
Lookup feature altogether:

Instead, create Forms to display your data, and use the toolbox Combo
Box Wizard to create combo boxes ("lookups") on the Form.
