Lookup field displays index and not lookuped text. How come?

An Access 2003 table has two lookup fields. Each looks up a text value in
another table based on a stored ID number. Both fields are designated as
"Number." One field displays an index value and the other field displays the
looked up text. All of the table setting for both fields are the same. How
can I make both fields display the looked up text value?

Thanks,

A check through this newsgroup will reveal a strong consensus AGAINST using
lookup datatypes for fields. They tend to confuse folks by storing one
thing and displaying something else.

Besides, you really don't want to be working directly in the tables (except
to define them). Tables store data, forms (and reports) display it.

Work with combo boxes in forms to look up information.

Good luck
