Can anyone assist me in coming up with a formula that will do the
following:
Lets suppose I have the names of various fruits stored in the cells in
the range D1
20, whereas D3, D7 and D14 have the same fruit "apples"
specified. In the range C1:C20 I have quantities of each of the
adjacent fruit items in column D. I need a formula for each of the
adjacent column E cells E1:E20 that will look for the fruit in the
adjacent cell under column D and see if there are any duplicates of it
below. Once the duplicate in D7 is found, I need E3 to give me the
information found in the D7's adjacent cell C7, (i.e. look at D3, find
D7 below and give me C7 as the result in E3).
In this case when the second occurrence of "apples" is found, I need
the information that is in the adjacent cell under column C, i.e. C7
to be returned in cell E3. If possible, I'd like to be able to
further edit that same formula to find the third occurrence and have
the information in cell C14 show up in cell F3, (i.e. if I chose to
use a third column F).
Please help,
Steve
