LOSING ADOBE ACROBAT HOOKS IN WORD

L

LoriAnn

I am using Word 2000 and Adobe Acrobat RW 5.0. I and
several of my colleagues continually lose the hooks for
Adobe within Word. One day they are available in the as a
Word toolbar and then the next they are gone; however, we
can still access the Distiller through Print.

We access Word from our network and have loaded Adobe
Acrobat locally as well as on the server.

Can anyone help me.....

The only suggestion I have is from a statement made by the Adobe instructor
I took Adobe Acrobat from.
In order to get those icons, Acrobat needs to be installed LAST. Now if you
have done that I might try un-installing Acrobat completely and
re-installing to see if that works.

The toolbar is provided by an add-in and that add-in must be located either
in the Word or Office startup folder. The Word startup folder is that
indicated in tools > options > file locations > startup. The Office startup
folder (for Office 2000) will be at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup. If you are getting Word
from the server, and worse still if you are sharing normal.dot or your
registry entries are created on logging in - then it does not seem
unreasonable that the registry settings for the startup folder go missing.
Try the Office startup which should always be in the same place.
