Losing formatting in Word 2003

Andy

I've created a very simple table for entering holiday
requests using text and date fields. I've applied
formatting to the entire table using a particular style
that includes Bold formatting. I've locked the fields and
switched off the field shading as usual. The text fields
are for entering name details and as such have been set
to Title case and the date fields have been set to use
the DD/MM/YYYY format.
When it comes round to filling in the form, the text
fields work fine but with the date fields if you enter
the date in anything other than the DD/MM/YYYY format
then the Bold formatting is lost on that particular field.
Any ideas?

Hi Andy,

Right, I see it. From what I can tell, the form field is
somehow adapting the BOLD formatting as direct formatting.
And since in Word Bold+Bold = Not bold, the bold from the
style is then being cancelled out.

FWIW, it seems to work correctly if I select the form field
and apply BOLD formatting directly. At first, it will look
wrong (not bold), but as soon as you TAB out, it picks up
the bold (opposite of what you're seeing, now).

I've reported this to Microsoft...
