losing hyperlinks when email merging into outlook

Does any one know how to email merge mail word documents
which contain hyperlinks....problem is that after email
merging with an outlook contacts folder, the personalised
emails generated in outlook lose the hyperlink properties
that were originally specified in the word template
document.

Help!
