Losing "Indent from left" formatting

In my Word 2002 document, I have several tables, all of
which are indented to some degree by the "Indent from
left" property available in the Table Properties dialog
box, Table tab. With the failed intent of simplifying my
work, I customized a general Table Style (Table Grid) and
based several more Table Styles (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
off it, each modifying the "Indent from left" property to
the appropriate value. I did something similar for some
Paragraph Styles (Body 1, Body 2, etc.) sot that, in the
end, I could use a hierarchical numbering scheme (1, 1.1,
1.1.1, etc.) in conjunction with Header Styles in my
document (which is a technical specification) and still
allow it to be readable.

Now, here's the problem. Every so often, the "Indent
from left" property of either the table I'm currently
editing or all tables of that Style gets set back to 0".
I have not been able to pinpoint the exact cause of the
reformatting, even if there is one. If it's just the
current table, it happens when I first type any character
in a cell in the table (not every time, just sometimes).
If it's all the tables with that indentation, then I
often don't notice it until later, since they're all off
my viewing area.

With the number of tables in this document, this is
becoming a serious issue that shows no sign of being
resolved. Correcting the property does not seem to
prevent it from happening again.

Any help would be appreciated.
