Losing my images from Mac to PC

I have created an application that saves html as a .doc in order to created a
text file with a linked image. This is working fine. The problem I am
having occurs when I open this Word doc on my Mac, edit it, Save as (choosing
Save saves as a htm :( ), and then move both the photo and the .doc to a PC.
The .doc can longer locate the image. I have tried placing them in a folder
with the same name as the Mac, but it seems to be looking for the complete
path (User ME:Desktop ....). Is there any way around this?

On my Mac I opened a blank document and inserted a linked to file picture by
checking the 'link to file' checkbox. I saved file to Desktop as html type
and it saved as 'Test.htm' and saved a separate 'Test_files' folder at the
same time with a copy of the picture in it.

I reopened the 'Test.htm' file in Word and did an 'Alt F9' to reveal field
codes. I edited the IncludePicture fields to take out the path, but left the
picture filename plus its extension. I saved and closed the 'Test.htm' file.

I moved the 'Test.htm' and 'Test_files' folder to the Documents folder and
reopened the 'Test.htm' in Word and the picture showed OK after I did
another 'Alt F9' to toggle the fields to show results and not code; without
a path in the field code it now showed the copy that was saved in the
support 'Test_files' folder.

If you wanted to expend the time, I suppose you could create a macro to
strip out paths from IncludePicture fields.
