Losing subscript/superscript! Help!

Hi all,
Here is my problem:
When I type "H2O" in A1 cell (with subscript "2"), I found that if
type "=a1" in B1 cell, it will only give back "H2O" (no subscript!).
I know direct copying from one cell to another is okay, but is ther
any other method to keep the subscript?

A formula can't be used to copy formats. As you say, a direct copy of
the cell will work, also you could use <copy> Edit | Paste Special |
Formats | OK, but this will still not allow a formula in the second
cell.

So, r u saying that there is no way to copy format by usin
formula Oh my god...:

If you one the cell with H2O and copy the entry in the Formula Bar, then you
can paste the result to another cell
Also: you can set up Autocorrect to change H2O to H2O with subscript
AND: if you are a chemist, you should get the addin from
http://spectrum.troy.edu/~cking/ChemFormat/
I used this for years when preparing exams and papers!
